LGBT Foundation is registered with the Fundraising Regulator, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that our fundraising is respectful, open, honest and accountable to the public.

LGBT Foundation is a certified member of the Information Standard. This is a scheme that has been developed by the Department of Health to enable anybody to quickly identify trustworthy information regarding health and social care.
By being awarded the Information Standard, it means that the Department of Health is satisfied that the information we provide meets their standards.
To achieve the standard, LGBT Foundation has had to show that we produce information which is:

Any comments we receive will be kept and considered when we are updating our resources, which we aim to do every two years.
All resources that have the Information Standard logo on them have been produced in accordance with the Information Standard. Those web pages and resources that don’t have the logo are not in scope of the Standard. This is very often because it is not related to health and social care, or because it was produced by an individual or organisation not working directly for LGBT Foundation.

Investing In Volunteers
The Lesbian & Gay Foundation were first awarded with the Investors in Volunteers chartermark in May 2008; we recently achieved re-accreditation until 2015.
Volunteers are involved in all aspects of LGBT Foundation’s work from being a trustee, to delivering face to face counselling sessions to giving out information and resources in the Village. We could not do what we do without volunteers so the Investors In Volunteers chartermark is really important to us as we feel it demonstrates our complete commitment to providing a safe, inclusive and empowering environment to volunteer in.
The Investors in Volunteers application process involves working with an assessor who supported us to complete a self-assessment and action plan, went through our policies and procedures and visited our offices to interview volunteers and staff members to check we are meeting quality standards.
This really positive process highlighted the amazing work our volunteers are doing and the impact they are making on the lives of the lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
LGBT Foundation are really proud to hold the Investors in Volunteers award.
Investors in People (IiP)
We received Investors in People accreditation in 2010.
For us, accreditation means that are staff are important to us, and that we have the right structures and processes in place to support and develop them.
IiP is a tool to liberate innovation, creativity and quality from all our staff, to help us to provide the best possible services and support to the people who use our services. It is based on the concept of ‘Plan, Do, review’, and means that we are always striving to continuously improve.
Our needs, and the needs of our staff, change constantly, and IiP allows this flexibility.
Since being IiP accredited, we have seen our staff team grow in size, and the services and support we offer grow in tandem.
Positive about Disabled People
LGBT Foundation has been a member of the Positive about Disabled People Scheme, which is run by Jobcentre Plus, since 2007.
As part of the scheme, we make five commitments regarding recruitment, training, retention, consultation and disability awareness.
These commitments are:
- to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities
- to discuss with disabled employees, at any time but at least once a year, what both parties can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities
- to make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
- to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
- to review these commitments each year and assess what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans
